Update from Palmer
Hey guys, an update on Colton. We've been in a bit of a waiting period since his diagnosis - lots of monitoring and planning. Based on his diagnosis, his doctor ordered some genetic testing to be done to help determine the best transplant preparation (i.e. whether it's chemo and radiation or just chemo). Those test results take several weeks to run, result, and review. For now, Colton's feeling pretty well all things considered. He's dealing with some fatigue, and his lab values are sitting on the low side, but the good news is he hasn't needed any blood or platelet transfusions, which is ideal. At our last visit, we found out there isn't currently a full match in the donor registry, so they're testing his brother to see if he could be a potential donor. Or if an unrelated mismatched donor is the best option.
We're taking things one day at a time. Once we get the genetic testing and donor typing results back, the transplant process will start.
We want to say a huge thank you to all our friends and family who are keeping Colton in their thoughts and prayers. We are so thankful for you.
